Wheel Offset & Stance Guide: How to Get the Right Look

Offset determines how far your wheels sit inside or outside the fender line.
Here is what the numbers mean:

Positive Offset
(+18mm to +45mm) —
Factory / Tucked

Wheel with positive offset tucked inside the fender

Minimal risk of fender rubbing; protection of the bodywork against dirt.

Zero Offset
(0mm) —
Flush Stance

The most popular look for most stock and slightly lifted pickups/SUVs.

Negative Offset
(−12mm to −44mm) —
Aggressive Poke/Deep Lip

Wheel with negative offset extending outside the fender

May require a lift/leveling kit or trimming of the inner fender liner to prevent rubbing at full steering lock.

How to Avoid Rubbing?

The more negative the offset and the wider the tire, the more clearance you need. Select your vehicle above to see safe setups, or ask our tech specialists before you buy.

Lug Nut Guide:
Why OEM Lug Nuts Won’t Fit Aftermarket Wheels

Most factory (OEM) lug nuts cannot be used on aftermarket wheels due to seat profile and hole clearance. Here is what you need to know:

Lug Seat Shape (Conical vs Flat/Ball)

Conical, flat and ball lug nut seat shapes

Problem: Factory lug nuts often use flat washer seats (Toyota/Lexus) or ball radius seats (Honda/VW).

Requirement: 99% of aftermarket wheels require a 60-degree Conical / Tapered seat.

Hole Clearance (Narrow Lug Wells)

OEM lug nut compared with narrow spline-drive lug nut

Problem: Factory lug nuts are bulky (requiring 21mm–22mm sockets) and will not fit inside narrow aftermarket wheel recesses, scratching the finish.

Requirement: Aftermarket wheels require slim Spline-Drive (Tuner) lug nuts paired with a dedicated thin-wall socket key.

Thread Pitch & Locking Security

Common lug nut thread pitches and a locking lug nut

Proper Match: Thread pitch must precisely match your vehicle studs (e.g. 14x1.5, 12x1.5, or 1/2”-20).

Theft Protection: Complete kits include matching locking lug nuts and a unique key to protect your wheels.

We Make It Easy — 100% Guaranteed Hardware Match

Add an Installation Kit (Lug Nuts, Spline Key, and Valve Stems) at checkout. Our team automatically verifies the exact thread pitch, length, and seat type for your specific vehicle and wheels before shipping.
